In 2014, YWAM founders Loren and Darlene Cunningham
traveled the globe meeting international, interdenominational Christian leaders including Pope Francis and the Archbishop of Canterbury to give them a copy of the Christian Magna Carta: a basic human rights document developed in 1981. Simple, it's rights found through the Gospel applied to every human. Among those rights is the desperate need to for a Bible to be in every language on the planet. You can read a great synopsis of each stop on there tour here, or look at the Christian Magna Carta here!
Major Bible and missions organizations, such as Wycliff and the Jesus Film, have partnered with YWAM to see the Bible translated into the last 1776 languages by Christmas 2020.
This is a bold endeavor and rightly so! Every person should have an opportunity to meet Jesus in the Bible of their own heart language, and we know that when the whole world is reached with the Good News of Christ He will return (Matthew 24:14). There is an urgency, friends!
The YWAM Kona base has become a hub for Bible distribution efforts in all of YWAM and for other organizations. Teams are being sent out equipped with audio Bibles that can be instantly given to any phone, anywhere, however primitive the model. They are often sent with a portable backpack containing a small projector and speaker that is able to translate the Jesus Film, which portrays the Gospel beautifully, in a myriad of languages.
We are sending a team to Thailand from our school who will be hiking into villages that have never before heard of Jesus and giving them the Gospel....Can you imagine being a part of that, being the one to deliver the Good News, first?
If you are curious about what makes the Bible so impactful for nations, we suggest reading "The Book That Transforms Nations" and "The Peace Child."
